In alignment with the global trend toward electronic documentation circulation, and to enhance cross-border document processing efficiency while advancing the initiative of "streamlining administrative procedures for greater effectiveness," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as the competent authority responsible for issuing Apostilles under the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents in China, will commence issuing the e-Apostille for public documents issued within China.
As a pilot program, the MFA will begin issuing the e-Apostille for Certificates of Origin issued by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) starting from June 18, 2025.
From the pilot launch date, applicants applying for Certificates of Origin through CCPIT can simultaneously apply for an the e-Apostille , enabling "one-stop, zero travel" processing.
The e-Apostille issued by China carry the same legal validity as physical Apostilles. The e-Apostille can be verified online via the MFA's "Online Verification System for Consular Authentication/Apostille" (https://consular.mfa.gov.cn/VERIFY).
The MFA will progressively promote the issuance of the e-Apostille in more fields and on a broader scale, providing more efficient and convenient cross-border document circulation services for Chinese citizens and enterprises.
